Creature Collab 2023: Programmer Search

Posted by OneDude20 - June 13th, 2023

CREATURE COLLAB (2023) PROGRAMMER SEARCH!

Hello again, NG users!

I'm OneDude20, and, as you might have heard, my new art collaborative project is happening right now: Creature Collab 2023! This project is a sequel to last year's (Creature Collab 2022), in which users were tasked with creating 3 lil' cretins of their very own, displayed in a timeley manner in an interactive gallery! If you somehow haven't seen much about it yet, want to know more, or want to participate, check out this newspost for more info! We have around 50+ people, including a few new artists on the scene as well as previous participants, but the more the merrier!

Now, I want to keep just as brief, but as luck would have it, we are looking for a few new programmers! Last year, the collaboration was spearheaded by the fearless @MSGHero, who took on and finalized the interactive elements that many of you saw in the finished product. Building from that initial idea of a two-dimensional interactive gallery, a few artists and I brainstormed and came to a solid idea of what the game's theme of this year should be: Sci-Fi!

Though this won't have an effect creatures submitted to the collab, it will affect general UI, the look, and ambience of the game. There's gonna be some scrolling past test tubes, npc's walking left and right, and a brief introduction given from a "crazy scientist", teaching people about the creatures! Behind the scenes, we will be dealing with numerous high quality images, so if you have experience tons of pictures at once and making it look good, this post is especially for you!

We are ahead of the curb this year; we already have a handful of concept art and sketches by a few of this years participants (which look great!!!), so hopefully we can hop swiftly into the programming phase. Additionally, this project may as well be big enough to the point where it requires a few people to code it all up, which I suppose this means we are looking for 1-3 candidates with well enough coding capabilities!

Thank you for your time! I understand that a project like this doesn't present itself often on here, and that it's a big ask, but if we've done it before, we can sure as hell do it again. I'll be sure to respond as fast as I can to whoever inquires! Can't wait to work with you all soon :)
